Effectiveness of Mind-Body Interventions on Stress Reduction and Body Awareness

Journal of Assessment and Research in Applied Counseling January 1, 2024 Badhon Ahmmed, Ayesha Khan

A structured mind-body program combining mindfulness, breathwork, progressive muscle relaxation, and mindful movement reduced perceived stress and increased body awareness in adults. Over nine weekly sessions, participants in the intervention group showed a large drop in perceived stress scores from 28.47 to 17.26, and body awareness rose from 62.13 to 77.94. These improvements were maintained at a three-month follow-up, while a control group receiving no training showed no meaningful change. The results indicate that such programs can produce lasting benefits for psychological and somatic well-being in general adult populations.
