Dissociative states in dreams and brain chaos: implications for creative awareness

Frontiers in Psychology September 7, 2015 Petr Bob, Olga Louchakova 14 citations

The article reviews evidence that dissociative states and dreaming share common brain processes, suggesting that the neural chaotic activity during dreaming is closely related to dissociative states that can appear in dream imagery. These findings align with clinical observations that dissociated states can be projected into dream scenery during REM sleep. Dreams may reveal specific interactions that unlock unusual creative potential in psychotherapy, art, and scientific discovery.
