Lucid dreaming—being aware that one is dreaming and able to control the dream—is linked to greater equanimity, the ability to remain calm and balanced under stress. In a correlational study of 200 adults aged 18–65, lucid dreaming positively and significantly predicted equanimity, explaining 39% of the variance. All eight subdomains of lucid dreaming (including insight, control, positive and negative emotion) also correlated positively with equanimity. The findings suggest that dream awareness may foster emotional stability and resilience, potentially benefiting therapy, mindfulness, and performance training.
