Treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in Canadian Special Operation Forces Command With Ketamine Plus Cervical Sympathetic Blockade.

Military Medicine February 27, 2025 Eugene Lipov, Hunter Rolain, Troy Neufeld 1 citation

Canadian special operations forces with PTSD and blast-related brain injuries received four combined ketamine infusions and bilateral cervical sympathetic blocks. Two weeks after treatment, average PTSD symptom scores dropped by 45 points, and among those with a history of traumatic brain injury, neurobehavioral symptoms decreased by 87%. This combined approach may offer a clinically meaningful reduction in symptoms for this high-risk group, though the small sample and lack of a control group limit the findings.

Updated Findings on the Efficacy of Combined Subanesthetic Ketamine Infusion and Cervical Sympathetic Blockade as a Symptomatic Treatment of PTSD/TBI in a Special Forces Patient with a 2-year Follow-up: A Case Report.

Journal of special operations medicine : a peer reviewed journal for SOF medical professionals April 30, 2025 Eugene Lipov, Zubin Sethi, Hunter Rolain

A patient with PTSD and blast traumatic brain injury from a Special Operations Forces cohort received a combination treatment of cervical sympathetic blockade and ketamine infusion, called the SOF method. After being followed for 720 days, the treatment showed prolonged and sustained benefits for both PTSD and bTBI symptoms with further applications of the method.
