Survey on Om meditation: Its effects on the human body and Om meditation as a tool for stress management

Psychological Thought April 30, 2019 Bhavna P. Harne, Azra A. Tahseen, Anil S. Hiwale et al.

Om mantra chanting, a form of meditation, positively affects physical and mental health by influencing brain regions such as the prefrontal cortex, vagus nerve, and amygdala, as well as heart and respiratory rates. A review of existing research categorizes studies into neuroimaging, EEG, evoked potentials, and other methods. Evidence suggests Om meditation can help alleviate anxiety and depression, but the authors note that more rigorous studies with larger sample sizes and control groups are needed. The paper recommends exploring loud Om meditation using EEG and suggests future research directions.
