Mixed-Mode Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy for psychological resilience, Self Esteem and Stigma of patients with schizophrenia: a randomized controlled trial.

BMC Psychiatry March 4, 2024 Jiali Dai, Dawei Sun, Bohui Li et al.

A mixed-mode version of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (M-MBCT), combining face-to-face sessions with self-help components, improved psychological resilience and self-esteem and reduced stigma in 174 inpatients with schizophrenia. In an 8-week randomized controlled trial, those receiving M-MBCT showed significantly lower internalized stigma scores and higher resilience and self-esteem scores compared with those receiving standard treatment. Age, education, and family history of mental illness were associated with stigma levels. The findings suggest M-MBCT is an effective and potentially more accessible treatment option for people with schizophrenia.
