WITHDRAWN: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Addressing Psychological Distress, Learning-Based Stress Symptoms, and Post-Traumatic Growth in Adults with Specific Learning Disabilities
Nimrod Polak, Ephraim S. Grossman
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) reduces psychological distress and learning-based stress symptoms in adults with specific learning disabilities (SLD). A randomized trial assigned 49 adults with SLD to an MBSR program or a waitlist control group; 78 adults without SLD provided baseline comparisons. Those with SLD reported higher distress and stress than the general population. The MBSR group showed significant reductions in psychological distress and learning-based stress compared to controls, with benefits sustained at a 4-month follow-up. Mindfulness mediated these improvements. No significant post-traumatic growth was observed. MBSR is effective for managing chronic stress in this population, though its effect on post-traumatic growth remains unclear.
