An 8-week mindfulness training program, compared to relaxation training, increased the speed of reorienting attention similarly in adolescent and adult females. In adolescents only, mindfulness training also reduced left amygdala reactivity to emotional face distractors, suggesting a possible attenuation of emotional reactivity. The study involved 26 adolescents aged 12-14 and 17 adults aged 23-33, all female, in the United Kingdom.
