A crítica de Leibniz à teoria dos Qualia de Descartes

This article responds to Leibniz's critique of Descartes's theory of qualia. The first part presents and discusses Leibniz's main reason for attributing qualia to Cartesian perception. The second part offers arguments that reject Leibniz's critique, focusing on three key elements: the institution of nature, deist occasionalism, and Cartesian psychophysical parallelism. The conclusion shows that these three elements strongly influenced Leibniz's own hypotheses of pre-established harmony and expressive perception, which were his alternatives for solving the qualia problem.
