Consciousness as Multi-dimensional Temporal Integration

Reports in Advances of Physical Sciences December 19, 2025 Gunther Kletetschka

A new theoretical framework combines integrated information theory with three-dimensional temporal physics to propose that consciousness arises from the integration of information across three orthogonal time dimensions. This model mathematically represents how conscious experience may maintain coherence across different timescales, offering a topological formulation of persistent identity despite physical change, a short-term wave function representation of consciousness across multiple temporal dimensions, and testable predictions for neural-like systems. The approach aims to bridge scientific materialism with cultural concepts of consciousness by suggesting that complex informational integration across multiple time dimensions can produce properties associated with consciousness without requiring non-physical substances.
