A Study on Gobijeon of Shamanism in Seoul

August 31, 2026 Chae-Lee Kim

: The Voice of the Turtle: An Ethnozoological and Shamanic Framework of Testudine Acoustic Phenomena and Omens

Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research) August 21, 2026 Loren Dyer-Peters preprint

Across global mythologies, the turtle (Testudines) represents foundational stability, primal wisdom, and grounding connection to the earth. Consequently, when a traditionally silent reptile emits an abrupt, vocal-like discharge ("scream" or high-pressure pulmonary expulsion), it fundamentally subverts cultural expectations. This paper provides a historical, shamanic, and superstitious research...

Interdisciplinary Literary Studies August 1, 2026 C. Preha, V. M. Berlin Grace, Cyjetha Cycil et al.

ABSTRACT Ecospirituality embodies the sacred interdependence between humans and the natural world, drawing from indigenous cosmologies, ritual practices, and mythic traditions. For communities negotiating the pressures of colonialism, modernity, and cultural erosion, these beliefs constitute vital systems of identity, memory, and ecological ethics. Yet, scholarly documentation on the ritual,...

Blood, beasts, ecstasy: the bodily codes of shamanism in the system of archaic biopolitics

Manuscript July 7, 2026 Elena Alekseevna Okladnikova, Alexander Mikhailovich Prilutskii

The aim of the work is to rethink the sacred functions of shamans with an emphasis on the social functions that shamans/ritualists performed in primitive and then traditional societies, and not only on the mystical content of early forms of religious ideas described by ethnologists and art historians. The article implements a theoretical transfer of the postulates of biopolitics (M. Foucault,...

The Role and Symbolism of Shamanic Music in Mongolian Shamanic Rituals

Sohyun Park
