Abstract
It is well known that cannabis consumption may lead to a number of mental symptoms in direct relation to intake. Whether or not cannabis is a risk factor for schizophrenia and other psychoses is controversial and has been debated since long. Twenty years ago, we could demonstrate an association in a follow-up study of Swedish conscripts, but not until recent years has evidence accumulated from several studies worldwide. Recent reviews have concluded that there is strong evidence for cannabis is a risk factor for schizophrenia and other psychoses. Keywords: Cannabis, schizophrenia, psychosis, longitudinal studies
