Abstract
Today, Artificial Intelligence is everywhere. AI is becoming more prevalent in all fields of technology. However, most AI is probably just advanced automation rather than actual "intelligence."A non-biological, human made machine that is aware of its own existence is referred to as artificial consciousness also known as machine consciousness. It will significantly impact our notion of what it means to be "alive" when it is created or even if it is created at all.Consciousness seems to be more hard to determine than intelligence, which can (perhaps) be measured by IQ. It would be a philosophical question instead of a technical one to determine if artificial consciousness has been created. Since there are so many multiple opinions of what consciousness is, it has an impact on when artificial consciousness might be achieved. This paper discusses the approaches that could be used to achieve self-awareness in artificial intelligence systems and provides an overview of the current advancements in conscious artificial intelligence systems.
