Key findings The authors conclude that LSD appears to be a safe drug whose therapeutic effects were achieved in few sessions and persisted long-term, with the most favorable results when used as an adjunct to psychotherapy in patients with life-threatening illnesses; it also showed potential for managing substance abuse, though serious adverse effects occurred in predisposed individuals.
