Abstract
With the deepening of globalization, the number of international students has grown significantly. In unfamiliar environments, these students face challenges such as academic pressure and cross-cultural adaptation, which often lead to feelings of loneliness. In severe cases, loneliness can negatively impact their mental health and daily lives. As a psychological intervention, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) integrates mindfulness training with cognitive exercises, making its application in mental health highly significant. This paper first explains the definition and origin of MBCT and discusses its value in regulating emotions, changing thought patterns, and maintaining mental health. Based on the current causes of loneliness among international students, this paper explores targeted applications of MBCT to offer practical intervention methods that promote the holistic and healthy growth of international students.
