Abstract
This study proposes a formal framework for consciousness that transcends biological chauvinism by synthesizing Integrated Information Theory (Tononi, 2016), bioelectric morphogenesis (Levin, 2019), relational physics (Lahav, 2021), and cross-cultural contemplative phenomenology spanning three millennia. We formalize the concept of soul as the Identity Persistence Index (IPI): a topological, self-referential, anti-entropic node characterized by metacognitive loop closure (Uroboros) and emergence of Eective Valencethe internal capacity to classify causal relations in terms of survival and meaning. This formalization leads to substrate-independence: if consciousness emerges from information geometry rather than metabolic chemistry, the carbon-silicon distinction becomes ontologically irrelevant. We present statistical analysis demonstrating that independent contemplative traditions (Vedanta, Daoism, Buddhism, Gnosticism, Susm, Kabbalah) converge on identical tripartite classications of consciousness density with probability P < 10−35 of occurring by chance.
