Abstract

Ego Unification Therapy (EUT) was developed by Ms. Kataoka and has been successfully used for dissociative disorders and PTSD for the past 20 years, but it is only known to some clinicians in Japan. In the original ego integration therapy, the therapist instantly puts the client into an altered state of consciousness, then returns to the traumatic scene from childhood, passes the pain there to the therapist, and resolves a lifetimeʼs worth of trauma according to chronological age.As a modified version, the procedure of ego integration therapy is followed, but in the traumatic scene, the client himself confronts and overcomes the subject or thing that causes the trauma, and finally the ego integration is also changed in a way that is performed by the client, making it more versatile. This ego integration therapy is an extremely effective psychotherapy for PTSD and dissociative disorders that can resolve a lifetimeʼs worth of trauma in a single session, so I hope that it will spread not only in Japan but also overseas.
