Consciousness and the Hard Problem in Amrita Field Theory: A Three-Layer Model of Qualia and Brain Dynamics

Core domains addressed in this paper: • Consciousness and agency in AFT• Observer structure and field-level selection This paper applies Amrita Field Theory (AFT) to the “hard problem of consciousness.” Instead of treating consciousness as an emergent property of matter, AFT models reality as a three-layer field: • 0L — Light Layer: intrinsically aware, timeless ground of consciousness • 1L — Amrita / Information Field: structured interference patterns (qualia, meaning, memory) • 2L — Phenomenal Layer: physical matter, brains, bodies, spacetime Qualia are modeled as 1L patterns illuminated by 0L awareness, while the brain functions as a 2L encoder/decoder that shapes and stabilizes the coupling. The apparent emergence of consciousness from matter is reframed as a category error: subjective experience originates in higher layers and is merely expressed through physical processes. The paper explains: • why physicalism, functionalism, panpsychism, IIT, and GWT cannot resolve the hard problem • how AFT dissolves it via 0L–1L–2L coupling • the role of the “soul node” as a stable 1L perspective center • mappings to anesthesia, dreams, meditation, dissociation • testable predictions for labs and neurophenomenology • conditions under which AI could host AFT-style conscious processes This is the first full AFT treatment of consciousness and positions the hard problem as a layer misclassification, not an unsolved mystery.
