Abstract
The modern quest for psychological well-being increasingly draws from both scientific and spiritual traditions. This proposed chapter explores how mindfulness, rooted in Eastern esotericism, and cognitive-behavioral approaches, grounded in Western psychology, converge to foster resilience and emotional balance among elderly populations. With age-related transitions often accompanied by depression, anxiety, and stress, the synthesis of mindful awareness and cognitive restructuring offers a transformative framework for inner healing and adaptability. The chapter will examine the philosophical and cultural underpinnings of mindfulness within Buddhist and Hindu esoteric traditions, its reinterpretation within modern therapeutic contexts such as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral (MBCB) interventions, and its demonstrated efficacy in enhancing resilience. Drawing upon recent empirical evidence, the discussion situates mindfulness as a bridge between intuition and empiricism, spirituality and science, and tradition and modernity.
