AbstractThe zombie is the tulpa most typically used to highlight socio-political subtext in horror films. The undead creature and its mythos have been used to highlight subjects as diverse as Slavery, the Vietnam War, rampant consumerism, the military-industrial complex, and ecological disasters. This chapter looks at the Catholic Zombie, a subgenre of zombie film from Roman Catholic countries on the European mainland, exploring criticism of Roman Catholicism and the colonial history of the Roman Catholic Church.
