Do Quantum Theory and Human Consciousness Share Common Ground?

Abstract

The conference I attended in Neve Shalom, which addressed the study of consciousness, was especially impor tant to me.It provided me with an opportunity to engage in an enlightening and inspiring meeting with a wide range of individuals and scholars for whom the mystery of human cognition and consciousness is a burning question.This meeting of philosophers, neurobiologists, scholars of culture, physicists, educators, and longtime prac ti tion ers of spiritual and meditative practices forced me-and I think the other participants too-to rethink consciousness, cognition, realism, first-person, and third-person experiences.It also provoked us to think about the possibility of connecting the dif fer ent "languages" and perspectives more meaningfully, and to try and create a theoretical picture of human consciousness that may contribute to cooperative and innovative research.
