DIALECTIC MOTIVATION, BEHAVIOR AND SPIRITUAL PEAK EXPERIENCE IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF ISLAMIC PSYCHOLOGY

A strong relationship exists between motivation and behavior in the process of achieving spiritual peak experiences, according to Islamic psychology. This conclusion comes from a qualitative literature study that analyzes Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of basic needs alongside al-Ghazali's theory of motivation of the human soul, which includes dimensions of heart, reason, and lust. The Islamic psychological perspective emphasizes religious (spiritual) motives in both psychological and physiological human conditions. Motivation and behavior in Islam are closely tied to stages toward the ultimate spiritual human experience.
