TOWARDS AN INTEGRATIVE PSYCHO-SPIRITUAL FRAMEWORK: EXPLORING THE COMMON GROUND BETWEEN NAFS AL-MUṬMA’INNAH AND MINDFULNESS IN THE CONTEXT OF PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING

Almufida Jurnal Ilmu-Ilmu Keislaman December 31, 2025 Ikhwan Ansori, Davik Ihsan Purnama

Peace of mind in the Qur'an, termed nafs al-muṭma'innah, is not merely a stable emotional state but a spiritual awareness centered on Allah. Achieving it involves four paths: self-purification, remembrance of Allah, prayer, and total surrender. This state represents the highest form of spiritual health, directly affecting psychological and social balance. While similar to modern mindfulness in its full awareness of present reality, it differs in orientation: mindfulness is self-centered, whereas nafs al-muṭma'innah is God-centered. The paper argues for integrating spiritual values into soul healing and meaning-seeking in contemporary life.
