Mindfulness can be understood as full attention and awareness, an attentive and reflective presence to what is happening in the present moment. It aims for the person to focus actively on the present, without interfering or judging what is felt or perceived. As a therapeutic procedure, it primarily seeks that emotional aspects and other non-verbal processes are accepted and experienced in their own condition, without being avoided or controlled. Control over uncontrollable events, subject to automatic processing, requires mere experimentation and natural exposure with the least possible interference.
