The Effect of Mindfulness-Based Therapy on Anxiety Levels in Patients with Anxiety Disorders

Media of Health Research December 31, 2025 Andi Pratama, Sopheak Chann

Mindfulness-Based Therapy (MBT) significantly reduced anxiety symptoms in patients with clinically diagnosed anxiety disorders compared to standard care alone. In a quasi-experimental study at a psychiatric outpatient clinic in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, 80 patients were randomly assigned to either MBT plus standard care or standard care alone. Anxiety levels, measured with the Beck Anxiety Inventory, dropped more in the MBT group, and the difference was statistically significant. The findings suggest MBT is an effective complementary intervention that can be added to routine clinical practice, though long-term outcomes and applicability across diverse populations need further study.
