Comprehensive Review of the Cognitive and Therapeutic Effects of Mantras
International Research Journal on Advanced Engineering Hub June 26, 2025 P Sandhya
Mantra chanting, a spiritual and cognitive practice, can enhance mindfulness, reduce stress, and improve cognitive flexibility. Neuroimaging studies indicate increased alpha and theta wave activity during practice. In academic settings, EEG-based research demonstrates that mantra chanting reduces pre-examination anxiety and improves cognitive processing efficiency. Ancient Vedic practices like Yagya and Vishnu Sahasranama chanting show promise for neurological and physiological health. Current research uses Convolutional Neural Networks with Long Short-Term Memory models to analyze EEG signals and validate stress-management effects. However, the authors note that larger standardized studies with adequate participant numbers are needed to confirm these findings.
