Mindfulness Training Improves Cognition and Strengthens Intrinsic Connectivity Between the Hippocampus and Posteromedial Cortex in Healthy Older Adults.

Eight weeks of mindfulness training improved cognition and strengthened the intrinsic connectivity between the hippocampus and the posteromedial cortex in healthy older adults. The training enhanced memory and executive function, and these cognitive improvements were associated with increased functional connectivity in the default mode network. The findings suggest that mindfulness practice may help counteract age-related cognitive decline by promoting neural plasticity in key brain regions.
