Functional Connectivity within Brain Networks of Long Term and Short term Meditators

International Journal of Innovative Technology and Exploring Engineering December 31, 2019

Meditation involves relaxation, concentration, and distinct brain states that differ from sleep or typical wakefulness. Using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), researchers compared functional connectivity—temporal correlations between active brain regions—in long-term meditation practitioners (LTP) and short-term meditation practitioners (STP). The analysis showed differences in connectivity patterns between the two groups, indicating that continuous meditation practice can produce long-term effects on brain connectivity.

Research and Applications of Qualia – The Unit of Subjective Experience

International Journal of Innovative Technology and Exploring Engineering May 10, 2020

The paper reviews the current state of research on the mind-body problem, focusing on 'qualia' or phenomenal experience. It traces the concept from its Latin origins through Western philosophy and examines how consciousness has been studied across disciplines including the humanities, sciences, philosophy, music, computer science, and physicalism. The authors also discuss how experts use the language of mental illness to address mental disorder in civilization. The work provides a descriptive account of philosophy's development from its inception to the present, covering stages of scientific evolution and diverse approaches to studying consciousness.
