Nurettin Topçu’nun Dinsel Değişim Tecrübesi

Amasya ilahiyat dergisi June 30, 2026 Fatma Kirman, Hasan Kayiklik

A content analysis of Nurettin Topçu's works and views examines his religious change experience. The analysis applies Lofland and Skonovd's seven-stage conversion model, finding that Topçu's religious change occurred in four stages: tension, seeking, encounter, and decision. His early childhood, including his father's death, and his family's traditional religious understanding, combined with his education, prompted a deep search for meaning. This search continued during his studies in France and led him to Sufism, representing a spiritual intensification and deepening within his own religion. His life is systematized into a self-discovery period before entering Sufism and a maturation and truth-attainment period afterward. The religious change was not merely external but an inward turn toward a more intense religious life.
