Yoga-nidra and hypnosis

International Journal of Health Promotion and Education May 3, 2016 Scott Hoye, Svathi Reddy 6 citations

Yoga-nidra, a trance-like practice derived from ancient yogic texts, is used for self-realization, psychological well-being, and health. It resembles hypnosis and other mind-body healing methods in psychotherapy. This article reviews yoga-nidra's origins, current practice, and efficacy literature, comparing it to hypnosis. It suggests integrating indigenous spiritual and psychological concepts with Western mental health models in contemporary India and among Indian diaspora populations.
