Exploring the Transformative Impact of a Contemplative-Based Life Design Program for Non-Formal Education Students

Journal of Education and Learning January 4, 2026 Walainart Meepan

A program combining contemplative education with life design principles helped thirty non-formal education students in Bangkok develop clearer life goals, self-awareness, and self-acceptance. The two-day workshop plus three-week practice period included self-reflection, goal setting, exploration, prototyping, and adaptation through thirteen contemplative activities. Participants initially felt discomfort during self-exploration but later reframed personal challenges into motivation for improvement. Positive changes emerged in family aspirations, career planning, and health consciousness. The program created a safe, reflective space that nurtured authenticity and emotional openness, strengthening learners' capacities for intentional life design and lifelong learning within Thailand's non-formal education system.
