Throughout history, people have used plants and medicines to boost productivity, and this practice is expected to grow. Cognitive enhancers have evolved and will likely continue to improve cognitive functions for maximum productivity. The article reviews the history of cognitive enhancers, assesses current use, and discusses future trends, suggesting that hallucinogens like magic mushrooms may become key productivity tools. This future development will require a harm reduction approach to manage associated risks.
