A systematic literature review of 46 primary sources from 1988 to 2022 identifies six structured procedures in Islamic psychotherapy for treating anxiety and stress in Muslim populations: dhikr therapy for emotional regulation, shalat as transcendental meditation, tilawah and tadabbur of the Al-Qur'an for cognitive restructuring, fasting as nafs training, tawakkal as acceptance therapy, and ruqyah syar'iyyah as a spiritual intervention. The authors propose that these procedures support a biopsychosociospiritual model of mental health and argue that their holistic integration reduces anxiety and stress symptoms, contributing to Islamic psychology theory and suggesting a more standardized curriculum.
