Yoga-Based Interventions for Reducing School Burnout in Adolescent Students

Global Journal of Innovative Research Perspectives June 27, 2026 Sweta Kumari

This review examines evidence on yoga-based interventions for school burnout in adolescents, a condition marked by emotional exhaustion, cynicism toward school, and reduced academic efficacy. The authors report that regular participation in structured yoga programs can improve emotional well-being, strengthen adaptive coping, enhance self-regulation, and foster positive academic attitudes, thereby reducing factors associated with burnout. However, they note that few studies directly assess school burnout as a primary outcome, and there is variation in intervention duration and methodology, along with insufficient long-term follow-up. They conclude that integrating yoga into school wellness initiatives may serve as a preventive strategy, but call for standardized measures, larger samples, and longitudinal designs.
