Mindfulness-based programmes for mental health promotion in adults in nonclinical settings: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials.

PLoS Med January 11, 2021

A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials assessed mindfulness-based programs for mental health promotion in adults in nonclinical settings. The authors report that such programs led to small to moderate improvements in mental health outcomes compared to control conditions, with effects observed across various measures. The review suggests that mindfulness-based programs can be beneficial for mental health in nonclinical adult populations, though the certainty of evidence was limited by heterogeneity and risk of bias. The authors call for more rigorous trials to confirm these findings.
