Mindfulness en la educación superior: análisis bibliométrico de cien años de investigación y agenda para los próximos años

This bibliometric analysis examines 4,399 documents on mindfulness in higher education indexed in Scopus from 1916 to 2021, the first international study of its kind. The authors report exponential growth in publications, with 49.47% produced between 2017 and 2022. The United States leads with 43.32% of output, and English dominates at 96.93%. The journal Mindfulness accounts for 10.53% of publications. Most-cited articles appeared between 2003 and 2011, suggesting recent growth has not produced a new generation of foundational works. The dominant thematic cluster focuses on student mental health, while educational technology and teacher well-being are expanding. The authors identify geographic, methodological, and linguistic gaps, prioritizing cross-cultural adaptation for the global south.
