Mathematics and Sufism (Faqar): A Journey of Balance and Unity

This article argues that mathematics and Sufism (Faqar) share principles of balance, unity, and divine order. Mathematics provides a logical framework for understanding the physical world through patterns and equations, while Sufism offers a spiritual lens emphasizing humility, love, and connection with Allah. Parallels are drawn between mathematical concepts—zero, infinity, the Fibonacci sequence, geometric shapes—and Sufi teachings on ego dissolution (fana), eternal divine mercy, and the circle as a symbol of Allah’s unity. Drawing on Qur’anic verses, Hadith, and Sunni scholars such as Imam Ghazali, Rumi, and Ibn Arabi, the article proposes that mathematical and spiritual truths complement each other, guiding seekers toward inner harmony and divine realization.
