The Movement, Mindfulness, and Pain Science (MMaPS) Class Improves Well‐Being and Physical Function in Patients With Chronic Pain

Participation in an 8-week interactive class called Movement, Mindfulness, and Pain Science (MMaPS) was associated with significant improvements in physical function, pain catastrophizing, and quality of life among 155 patients with chronic pain. Median Pain Catastrophizing Scale scores dropped from 19 to 11, Quality of Life scores increased from 5 to 6 on a 10-point scale, Patient Specific Functional Scale scores improved from 2.5 to 5.1, and 30-second sit-to-stand scores improved from 8 to 11. The proportion of patients completing all four stages of a balance test rose from 39% to 56%.
