Mindfulness for Student Well-being and Sustainable Development in Indian Education
International Journal of Humanities Commerce and Education May 15, 2026 Anupam Rajauria
Mindfulness, rooted in the Indian Knowledge System and traditions such as Yoga and meditation, offers a culturally grounded approach to enhancing student well-being in Indian education. The paper argues that integrating mindfulness into curriculum design, teacher education, and institutional processes aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) and supports the development of emotional regulation, self-awareness, and resilience. It contends that such integration can address stress, anxiety, and emotional challenges among students while contributing to Sustainable Development Goals 3 and 4, and to the broader vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 through a more inclusive and human-centred education system.
