„Kadzidła i miętówki”. Orientalizm a psychodeliczne okładki płytowe w drugiej połowie lat sześćdziesiątych XX wieku

The article examines how orientalist themes and psychedelic culture merged in album cover art during the late 1960s, arguing that this fusion produced a culturally significant but understudied phenomenon in popular music. It critiques the existing scholarly focus on a few major groups, especially The Beatles, and instead highlights a broader range of artists—including The Byrds, Curved Air, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Moody Blues, The Rolling Stones, and The Strawberry Alarm Clock—who incorporated orientalist motifs into their music and visual imagery. The analysis, limited to American and British album editions, defines psychedelic art as inspired by aesthetic components of psychedelic experience rather than direct drug influence.
