Review of new evidence on effectiveness of different methods of lucid dream induction

International Journal of Medicine and Psychology March 28, 2024 О.в. Бодров

A review of 17 peer-reviewed studies from 2011 to 2023 identified 12 methods for inducing lucid dreams, where a person becomes aware they are dreaming. Three methods not covered in a 2011 review were found: dream exit induced lucid dream (DEILD), senses-initiated lucid dream (SSILD), and mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR). The mnemonic induction of lucid dreams (MILD) was the most effective method. Three promising methods—DEILD, SSILD, and Tholey's combined technique—require further research to confirm their effectiveness.
