Impact of Sleep and Brain Science of Lucid Dreaming: Insights into Therapeutic Applications
Journal of Neuro and Oncology Research November 11, 2022 Berenika Maciejewicz
Lucid dreaming, being conscious within a dream, may offer therapeutic benefits. Analysis of neuroscientific data, combined with own investigations and insights into virtual reality training and transcranial direct current stimulation, suggests that lucid dreaming techniques could reduce nightmares, increase mindfulness, and serve as an experimental treatment for mental health disorders such as narcolepsy and post-traumatic stress disorder. Training in dream lucidity might also improve sleep quality and reduce daytime stress and anxiety. However, further research is needed to understand both the benefits and potential negative long-term consequences.
