The Wixárika people's worldview centers on ritual visits to five cardinal points in western Mexico, where elements such as the sun, sea, maize, peyote, deer, and fire reside. From their perspective, the planet and life emerged through the relationship of the sea and the sun, which engendered serpents that evolved into rivers, animals, and humans who traveled through sacred places. The study concludes that recovering this cosmology, expressed in rituals, is important for building an intercultural proposal to preserve biodiversity and limit climate change from a deep ecology perspective.
