“Eye Dropping”—A Case Report of Transconjunctival Lysergic Acid Diethylamide Drug Abuse

An 18-year-old man developed acute, bilateral eye pain and redness after placing LSD-impregnated blotting paper strips into his lower eyelids. Examination revealed localized abrasions on the cornea and conjunctiva of both eyes, along with underlying bleeding beneath the conjunctiva. The conjunctival abrasions were "kissing"—affecting both the inner eyelid and the eyeball surfaces where the paper had rested. The corneas showed no clouding. The patient reported improvement within a week but did not return for follow-up. This is the first reported case of such eye injuries from LSD. "Kissing" conjunctival lesions, previously linked to heroin use, may indicate drug abuse.
