An experiential and educational program on the holotropic mind perspective and Holotropic Breathwork® was implemented with students and professionals from a Brazilian university's early intervention group for first-episode mental crisis of a psychotic type. The intervention, designed using the Intervention Mapping protocol, aimed to promote a less pathologizing understanding of non-ordinary states of consciousness (NOSC). Participants reported that the program expanded their theoretical and technical frameworks, allowing them to perceive NOSC as inherent human phenomena rather than indiscriminately pathological expressions. The approach recognizes the healing and evolutionary potential of such experiences, contrasting with conventional approaches that treat them as pathological.
