Effects of Islamic Spiritual Mindfulness on Stress among Nursing Students

Nurse Media: Journal of Nursing January 16, 2020 Badrul Munif, Sri Poeranto, Yulian Wiji Utami

Islamic spiritual mindfulness therapy reduced stress among Muslim nursing students working on their theses. In a quasi-experimental study with 36 participants, the intervention group's average stress score fell from 20.6 to 11.4, while the control group's score declined slightly from 19.7 to 17.8. The difference between groups was statistically significant, with a medium effect size of 0.59. The authors conclude that Islamic spiritual mindfulness is an effective coping strategy and recommend that mental health nurses apply it as a psychotherapeutic intervention.
