How to avoid ethically relevant Machine Consciousness
arXiv Preprint Archive May 31, 2016 Aleksander Lodwich
This paper discusses the root cause of systems perceiving self-experience and how to exploit adaptive and learning features without introducing ethically problematic system properties. The authors argue that certain system properties can be developed to achieve adaptive and learning capabilities while avoiding ethical concerns. They propose an approach to understanding and implementing these features, focusing on the underlying mechanisms of self-perception in artificial systems.
