Electroanalytical identification of 25I-NBOH and 2C-I via differential pulse voltammetry: a rapid and sensitive screening method to avoid misidentification.

This paper describes a new electrochemical method for detecting 25I-NBOH, a potent serotonin 5-HT2A receptor agonist found in blotter paper seizures. Because 25I-NBOH is thermolabile, routine gas chromatography-mass spectrometry degrades it, causing misidentification. The authors investigated the voltammetric behavior of 25I-NBOH and 2C-I, then developed a fast, sensitive method using a screen-printed carbon electrode. The method is selective and fully differentiates 25I-NBOH, 2C-I, and 25I-NBOMe. The authors conclude the method is analytically valuable.
