A pilot study tested an 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme in 10 adults with atopic dermatitis (mean age 53 years, mean disease duration 36.6 years). The programme was feasible and acceptable. Pre-post comparisons showed significant improvement on the Freiburg Mindfulness Inventory subscales of presence and acceptance, and a trend toward reduced perceived stress, which participants' qualitative feedback supported. The authors suggest MBSR may be a promising adjunct to conventional treatment for atopic dermatitis.
