Have underground radiation measurements refuted the Orch OR theory?
arXiv Preprint Archive January 28, 2023 Kelvin J McQueen
A recent claim that a specific variant of the Orch OR theory has been refuted by radiation emission measurements is correct, but the refuted variant was never actually advocated by anyone and contradicts the views of Hameroff and Penrose who originated the theory. Orch OR is a work in progress with many possible variants, and the refutation eliminates only a small class of them. The core idea—that wavefunction collapse is a real physical event related to gravity and that consciousness depends on orchestrated collapses in microtubules—remains, but challenges remain for the variant preferred by its originators.
